LASEK (Laser Sub-Epithelial Keratomileusis)
LASIK (Laser in-Situ Keratomileusis)
Use of laser to reshape the cornea to remove the need for glasses or contact lenses.
These surgeries use laser to reshape the cornea to correct focusing defects in the eye. The shape of the glasses used by the individual is carved into the cornea using very precise lasers to correct long sight, short sight or astigmatism. The procedures are called PRK, LASIK and LASEK.
Photo-Therapeutic Keratectomy (PTK)
Lasers remove superficial scars and accumulations on the cornea.
Lasers can be used to remove scars from the front of the eye and polish surface irregularities which cause blurring and irritation.
